The League of Legends World Championship is an event every League of Legend’s fan looks forward to. The 2020 World Championships are no different. Shanghai is the venue of this year’s edition and it kicks off on September 25.

With the qualifying now over and teams confirmed, Riot Games is holding draws for the play-in and group stage of the tournament.

The Schedule for the 2020 draw –

The Worlds 2020 draw show is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 8PM CST and 5AM PT. The draw show also includes commentary and analytics.

The teams involved in the draw –

There are 4 teams each from Europe and China. Korea and North America are well represented as well with 3 teams from either of the regions. One each from Commonwealth of Independent States, Brazil, Japan, Latin America, Oceania and Turkey. Two teams have made it through from the South East Asian region. Some of the big names in the fray include Gen G Esports, Fnatic, Top Esports and JD Gaming.

The Format of the Draw –

After the Vietnamese authorities put in place measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, it was confirmed that the VCS would not be taking part.  Riot have made drastic changes to the format of the Play-In Stage. Two groups will contain the ten teams qualified for the elimination phase. A single-match round robin format is how the phase will be played in.
