Westboro Baptist Promises to Picket Beau Biden's Funeral in Delaware

A Kansas church, known for its strident opposition to homosexuality and picketing of soldiers’ funerals, has promised to protest the funeral of Beau Biden on Saturday.

On its website, godhatesfags.com, the Topeka, Kansas, church – widely regarded as a hate group – promised to picket outside Wilmington’s St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in Delaware, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Biden — former attorney general of Delaware and son of Vice President Joe Biden — served as a lawyer for the Delaware National Guard and spent a year in Iraq on active duty in 2008-2009, according to USA Today.

He died on May 30 after a battle with brain cancer.

“Lord willing, WBC will zealously warn Joe Biden and the others at that time/place that God has clear standards, that He requires obedience, and that He curses those who refuse to obey, especially those who interfere with His people in their worship of and service to Him,” the website states. “Our faithful warning: Repent or likewise perish!”

President Obama will reportedly give the eulogy at Biden’s funeral Mass, which starts at 10:30 a.m.

According to CNN, on Thursday, more than 1,000 people gathered to honor Biden’s life at a memorial service held in the Delaware Legislative State House in Dover.
