Vladimir Tarasenko signs 8-year, $60 million contract

The St. Louis Blues signed right wing Vladimir Tarasenko to an eight-year, $60 million contract on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Tarasenko becomes the team’s highest player with a salary cap hit of $7.5 million.

In a breakout season in 2014-15, Tarasekno finished 10th overall in the NHL in points with 73 and was fifth in goals with 37. He was named to play in the NHL All-Star Game in January and added six goals and seven points during the postseason.

“Thank you for your trust. Happy to be with you and carry a note on my chest. Let’s bring the cup to St. Louis!!” Tarasenko tweeted after the Blues announced the deal.

In 179 career regular-season games spanning three seasons, Tarasenko has 66 goals and 135 points and has added 10 goals and 11 points in the playoffs.

Vladimir Tarasenko was drafted in the first round by the Blues in 2010.
