UCLA Football Player Arrested In 2014 Rape, Suspended from team

Adam Searl has been arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with an attack last year.

Adam Searl, 20, was booked into the Los Angeles County jail at 6 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of rape and was released on bond at 10:44 p.m., with a court date set for Oct. 29.

The arrest stemmed from a 2014 complaint by a coed who said she met the suspect at an off-campus house party in Westwood and went with him to a nearby home, police said.

She fell asleep and awakened to find she was being molested, police said.

The investigation took nearly a year — apparently in conjunction with the UCLA police, officials said.

Searl — a punter and redshirt sophomore from Irvine — was allowed to play the 2014 Bruins season and is on the team for this season, at least until his arrest.
