Cambodian tycoon’s attack on actress prompts uproart.

The magnate is believed to have fled Cambodia for Singapore on July 8 after leaked security camera footage showing his attack on Cambodian Television Network ex-host Ek Socheata, better known as Sasa, has been widely circulated on the internet and publicized on local television channels.

The video showed Sok Bun engage in an argument with Sasa before dragging her to the floor and repeatedly punching and kicking her in the face and head, as his bodyguard pointed a pistol at Sasa’s face.

Sasa got injured to her right eye during the fight.

In a public statement, Sok Bun said, “I’d like to make a public apology for this mistake and promise not to make such a mistake again in this life.”

He also announced to resign as the president of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association and the director of joint ventures between his company and Singaporean partner TEHO-SBG International, which planned to invest 500 million U.S. dollars in a real estate development project.

“I’d like to contribute 100,000 U.S. dollars to Ms. Sasa for treatment and expenses,” he said.

Despite apology and compensation to the victim, in a meeting on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sar Kheng ordered the authorities to hunt for Sok Bun for legal punishment.
