Tony Hawk Rides Hoverboard : Watch skateboarder fall off of a real, working hoverboard

Tony Hawk rides hoverboard, stays airborne.
Skateboarding legend is riding the first world’s first real hoverboard and this time it’s not a Funny or Die prank.

In the clip, we see Hawk on a Hendo Hoverboard, which the company says is the world’s first real hoverboard. He looks awkward on it at first and eventually figures out how to ride it for the most part by the end. He does a lot of spinning, too.

The Hendo Hoverboard isn’t exactly the hoverboard of our dreams yet, but it’s a good first start. The board levitates one inch above the ground using a magnetic field over non-ferrous surfaces like copper or aluminum. So, they’re not street ready if you’re wondering. However, the company, which launched a Kickstarter campaign and raised over $452,000—almost double their goal—with a month to go, hopes one day they can get these hoverboards going over any surface, including water.

By the way, the guy in the video who jokes that he’s Johnny Knoxville is Dave Carnie, a freelance skateboarding reporter who helped launch the careers of some of those familiar faces in Jackass, like Knoxville.
