Tia Mowry has spoken out against ‘body shaming’ after online trolls criticized her weight gain.
After the 37-year-old actress received hurtful remarks from body shamers on her social media accounts, Tia decided to speak out about putting on a few pounds — and you’ll be inspired by what she said!
“I just looked at my Instagram and someone was insinuating that I’m pregnant again,” she said during a recent HuffPost Live interview. “Guys, I’m not pregnant, I am just happy, and I’ve gained these extra 10, 15 pounds because of my cooking show!”
“I’m just enjoying life, and when I want to drop the pounds I will, but right now I’m happy with who I am,” she continued.
The former Sister, Sister star went on to knock today’s society for perpetuating a rather high expectation of beauty. “It’s pretty unfortunate. We live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect. Why can’t we just be us?” she said.
“We need to be more supportive with body images, especially women, showing that all sizes are beautiful,” the mom of-one — she has a four-year-old son, Cree, with her actor hubby, Cory Hardrict — said. “I’m talking about in magazines, advertisements, in regards to what’s sexy and not sexy. We all need to be a little more supportive of each other.”
