The Rock wants John Carpenter for Big Trouble remake

The Rock Wants To Involve John Carpenter And Kurt Russell In His Big Trouble In Little China Remake.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Rock indicated that he’s been paying close attention to all the outrage, and he offered up some thoughts that should put your mind at ease – at least a little bit.

“I loved reading the reactions from the fans, that they were so polarized – I’m the same way,” Johnson told EW at Saturday night’s taping of the Spike TV “Guys Choice Awards.” “My response is: Know that I come to the project with nothing but love and respect for the original, which is why we want to bring on John Carpenter.”

“I loved the original when I was younger, and I loved the main character – all the characters,” the actor continued. “It felt like if we surrounded ourselves with the right group of people, the right writers who loved the movie too and wanted to honor it, bring on John Carpenter in some capacity … If we did that, then we have a shot at hopefully making something good.”

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the script with Johnson, and his producing partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia are on board to produce through their 7 Bucks Entertainment banner.

The original starred Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, a trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in Chinatown between warring clans.
