Teigen Protest Food Trucks : John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen feed protesters in New York

Soul singer John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, want to make sure that the protesters have the fuel to keep on marching. The couple paid for food trucks to feed New York protesters of the Eric Garner decision. Chrissy, who is also a food blogger, tweeted out the location of the trucks throughout the city.

According to Vanity Fair, demonstrations in New York have only been increasing since the grand jury announcement that a police officer, who killed Eric Garner with an unlawful chokehold, will not be indicted. People are also protesting over the non-indictment of Darren Wilson who killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.

The R&B superstar and his wife, who is also a food blogger, wanted to show their support for the protesters by supplying them with much-needed nourishments to keep them strong enough to continue to fight the struggle.

And like the true humanitarian he is, Legend did not take any credit for the supportive act. Teigen did however, retweeted a tweet from Bipartisan Report’s Twitter account that let the cat out of the bag.

The soulful singer has been using his social media accounts, however, to bring attention to the fact that all of these years after the Civil Rights Movement, things have still not changed much for people of color in this country.

Legend recently dropped his inspiring song ‘Glory,’ which features Common, and will be in the highly-anticipated movie, ‘Selma,’ which opens in theaters on Dec. 25.
