Steve Smith Sr. said that Mike Mitchell is on his “lifetime hit list” for a spear that was actually committed by Lawrence Timmons.
After Smith was hit in the back by Lawrence Timmons in Thursday’s game between the two teams, Smith blamed the incident on Mitchell, who played with Smith in 2013 as members of the Panthers. The led to Smith exiting the game with a lower back injury.
Smith was still fuming after the game, saying that his former teammate intentionally speared him on the play.
“The best thing I could do without threatening him and saying, ‘I will assault him when I see him’ is I will say, ‘I look forward to playing him again, and he’s on my lifetime hit list,” said Smith after the game. “I got speared in my back by an ex-teammate. I kinda know his character and who he is. After he hit me, he said, ‘How do you like that?'”
Despite the Steelers physical treatment of Smith, his Ravens got the last laugh, as the Steelers beat themselves in a 23-20 overtime loss on Thursday night. But for Smith, who seems to have something to say after seemingly every play, apparently can’t take the trash talk that he boastfully dishes out each and every Sunday (and Thursday, for that matter).
The duel between Mitchell and Smith, who says that this is his last season in the NFL, will be just another storyline to follow when the two teams face each other again in Week 16.
