Stedman Bailey: Rams receiver 'critical but stable' after being shot in head

Suspended St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey is in critical but stable condition after being shot Tuesday night in Florida.

Various reports indicate Stedman Bailey was in a car with family members when a hail of gunshots rang out. He was shot twice in the head but his injuries were not considered to be life threatening, reports said. Bailey’s cousin, who was driving the car, was shot several times and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A Biletnikoff finalist in 2012, Bailey is currently serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

“We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition,” the Rams said in a statement released Wednesday morning. “We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.”

Stedman Bailey is from the Miami area.
