Seth Rollins expected to be injured for up to nine months and new WWE world champion to be crowned at Survivor Series.
Seth Rollins, 29, is one tough guy, but not even he could handle the damage done to his right knee when he landed wrong during a match in Ireland Nov. 4. The WWE World Heavyweight champion tore his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus, which will require surgery and anywhere from six to nine months of recovery and physical therapy before he’s cleared to fight again. What does this mean for the WWE?
Seth’s terrible knee injury has taken him out of the wresting action, and he now won’t be able to defend the his title against Roman Reigns at the Survivor Series. That means the WWE needs to find a new champion, and a tournament to decide who that is will instead take place at the event. Details about the Survivor Series tournament haven’t been finalized yet, but the event will take place in Atlanta on Nov. 22 and will air live only on the WWE Network.
This is an awful setback for Seth, who had been crushing it in the ring lately. During WWE’s Night of Champions Sept. 20, he destroyed Sting in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match for an epic win, and successfully defended his Heavyweight title!
Earlier in the day Seth had a great workout and was in top shape. On the afternoon of Nov. 4, he posted a photo to his Instagram from outside of Perpetua Crossfit in Dublin, with the caption “Thanks for having me guys! #deadlifts @crossfitperpetuadublin” after training prior to his match. Fans are already leaving get well wishes across his social media accounts.
