Sean Malone Dies After Being Pulled From Water Off South Boston

Sean Malone has passed away. The actor who starred in the movies like “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Fighter” died more than a week after he was found floating unconscious in the ocean off South Boston. He was 54.

Announcing the news on their Twitter page at 2.55am on Thursday, the Boston Fire Department wrote:

“Sean Malone succumbed to his injuries this evening surrounded by his son Sean, parents and siblings at Boston Medical Center.”

According the the department, the actor went swimming too far out and was already underwater when an off-duty firefighter found him and dragged him to shore.

Last week The Boston Globe reported that firefighter Chris Flaherty had watched Malone swim out and became concerned by how far he had gone.

He reportedly grabbed a paddle board and set off to rescue him with the help of three teenagers.

With only a few acting credits to his name, Malone most recently starred in 2014 John Travolta film The Forger.
