Scott Mitchell : Quarterback Tackles Weight Gain on 'Biggest Loser'

Scott Mitchell tackles weight gain on ‘The Biggest Loser’.
On tonight’s episode of the hit NBC reality competition The Biggest Loser, contestant Scott Mitchell reunites with his family for the first time since the show began 15 weeks ago — and debuts his amazing 126-pound weight loss.

Scott Mitchell, who started at 366, has shed 124 pounds to 242 lbs. Tim Gunn appeared to help the contestants dress up, including choosing a suit for Scott. The 47-year-old former pro athlete also got a new haircut.

He stunned his wife Wendy and two of his five kids with his slimmed-down look. “I miss him so much,” said his son Zach. “I’m just so proud of him and what he’s accomplished so far.” His wife also gushed, “It was a person that I remember 14 years ago.”

Scott Mitchell, who gained 15 to 20 pounds each offseason during his NFL career, slowly put on weight after he retired in 2001. He admitted that he struggled emotionally on the show. He recalled a morning hike when “I just lost it – I sat down on the trail and sobbed uncontrollably, about how in my life I was focusing on the things that brought me pain and sorrow, and how that was a big part of why I gained weight. I wanted to quit. I didn’t want to deal with it.”

“I realized I had shut myself off emotionally, and when I opened myself up, there was a lot more to me than I was giving myself credit for. I told myself, ‘You’re a great guy, Scott, and you have a great life.’ ” Calling it “the hardest damn thing I’ve done in my life,” he still thinks the experience is “beautiful, wonderful, lifesaving.”

Scott is facing up against Howard “Woody” Carter to get back to the ranch, but the result has not been known yet. No one was sent home in the episode and a twist will be explained next week.

As to weight loss, why would people even bother with all those diet pills? It’s a clear fact that the most effective and natural ways to lose weight and burn the fat is to control calorie consumption and working out. There are tons of different approaches to start off with. I personally prefer the ones listed in the top 5 weight loss programs of 2014 on Pretty simple to follow yet effective way to lose extra pounds.Another option is to go to your local nutritionist and/or fitness trainer. The main thing here is to start acting. Be well and healthy!

I agree..A diet doesn’t need to start at full throttle. You can ease into it. Try starting with smaller portions of food, and taking more time eating those portions. Small amounts of exercise will still be beneficial to your health, and you can work up to a bigger workout as you get more into shape. Different methods of diets can have a better effect on you than others might. If you want to try weight loss shakes, or eating a diet of only fruits and grains, go for it.
