Sandy Alderson: Mets general manager faints at conclusion of press conference

Sandy Alderson collapsed while speaking with reporters Wednesday morning.

Reports said the former Oakland A’s GM, now 67, had begun to address questions about the health of center fielder Juan Lagares when he slowly went to the ground. Less than a minute later he was alert and sitting in a chair.

“All right, sorry about that, guys,” Alderson was quoted as saying. “OK, where were we?”

The reporters suggested he not take any more questions.

The team trainer checked out the general manager and reported that Alderson was feeling all right. The GM had not eaten breakfast, had been dehydrated and had been affected by heat, including camera lights, according to one team official.
