Liverpool stars Van Dijk and Salah are both enjoying fine seasons, helping the Reds mount a challenge for the Premier League title.
Salah has returned to form at the right time, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 drubbing of Bournemouth last weekend before netting the winner in the Reds’ 1-0 Champions League win over Napoli.
Liverpool fans have noticed, however, that Salah’s recent goal celebrations have been rather subdued.
The Egypt international’s disgruntled body language has even sparked fears among some fans that he wants to leave.
But Liverpool star Van Dijk has insisted that is not the case.
Instead, he says Salah is not celebrating because he cannot smile every second of the day!
He said: “He’s scoring goals. He’s smiling.
“He can’t smile every second of the day but he’s enjoying it I think.
“He’s scoring his goals, he’s working hard, defensively as well.
“We don’t need to see any negative things about that (goal celebration) so we just need to focus on the good things.”
Salah is also seen as central to Liverpool’s hopes of silverware by Van Dijk.
“He scored a hat-trick in his last league game and again against Napoli, a very important one,” the former Southampton ace added.
“He’s been doing very well.
“People can say he’s not scoring as much goals as last year, but that’s always the media.
“People underestimate how strong he is. He’s a very important player, great guy and is deadly in the box.”
Salah is primed to start when Liverpool face Manchester United today (4pm).
