That’s the opinion of ESPN pundit Max Kellerman who has opened up on the qualities of the Golden State Warriors star.
The Lakers and Warriors meet at 1am in a hotly anticipated clash between two of the leading teams in the Western Conference.
But Kellerman thinks Durant moving to the Lakers is not a necessity as they already have LeBron.
He told First Take: “He’s the ultimate complementary piece.
“I don’t think you can build around Durant and go on a championship run but if you have a guy like Steph [Curry] or LeBron or a guy who can run your offense then there’s no greater weapon maybe ever.
“Kevin Durant who is not only one of the greatest scorers ever but incredibly efficient as a scorer and also plays defence and elevated his defence to the elite.
“He’s a great, great player in his prime.”
Kellerman also opened up on how he perceives Durant and his attitude towards moving teams.
He added: “KD is like ‘I’m coming for you’. Essentially that’s how I red this. ‘Come play with me’. But he’s saying ‘no, no I’m coming for you’.”
And the ESPN pundit also revealed how he rates LeBron compared to his Warriors rival.
“He’s not the man. The reason LeBron is 10 times the star anyone else in the NBA is because his is on his own level,” he explained.
“Don’t get it twisted, do not get this bent. KD is a great player in his prime, so is Kawhi Leonard, so are a lot of others.
“There is LeBron James and there is everyone else.”
LeBron and the Lakers will look for a big win tonight in order to close the gap on the Warriors in the Western Conference.
Durant’s side sit second with a 23-11 record while the Lakers are in fourth.
