His trade saga is still the focus of attention for all NBA fans.
But the wantaway ace still found time to help Tyus Jones get to a clash between Duke and Kentucky.
The Timberwolves guard was reportedly desperate to watch his brother Tre play.
With that in mind, Butler opted to charter a private jet and even told Jones to take it when he could no longer join his team-mate.
Journalist Jon Krawczynski explained on Twitter earlier this week: “UK v. Duke in Indy [on Wednesday night].
“Tyus was looking for a flight from LA to see his brother Tre’s first game.
“Couldn’t get one to work. Jimmy Butler heard him and chartered a private jet for the two of them.
“Butler ended up not being able to make the trip.
“Let Tyus Jones take the plane himself.
“So Tyus is there for the big night and will be back in plenty of time for the Lakers game [on Thursday] night.
“Butler has always been very fond of Tyus. Came through for him [on Wednesday night].”
Despite Butler’s kind gesture, NBA expert Leigh Ellis reckons Butler needs to be cut loose.
On ‘The Starters’ podcast, Ellis accused Butler of embarrassing the franchise with his actions and comments over free agency.
“They should control the situation and tell Jimmy Butler that he isn’t playing until he is traded,” he said.
“Because Jimmy Butler is right now humiliating the franchise by saying he wants to leave and wants a trade.
“He’s waving the towel with the Golden State Warriors fans.”
The pundit explained that he believes the situation has called for senior management at the Wolves to step in.
“I think if you’re in the front office at the Timberwolves you need to sit down and say: ‘This has to end, he’s not playing any more’,” Ellis added.
“He’s not going to be a part of this franchise anymore, he’s going to be sat down until he’s traded.
“So, I think the situation is in their control.”
The Timberwolves slumped to a 114-110 defeat to the LA Lakers on Thursday night.
