Randy Moss : Ex-Vikings star Hits Pelican Rapids For Graduation

When Randy Moss was playing for the Vikings, he made a promise to a little girl that he would attend her high school graduation.

Randy Moss handed the high school diploma to senior Kassi Spier according to School District Superintendent Deb Wanek as reported by inform.

Wanek said Spier developed leukemia in her youth. Then in 2004 , her father died in a car accident and in 2013, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Still, he managed to graduate and Moss fulfilled his promise to her that he would be there when she graduated.

“She’s had many struggles in her life, and he’s been there for her,’’ Wanek said. “He told her he’d be at her high school graduation.’’

Moss befriended Spier during his rookie season with the Vikings in 1998 and in 2003, according to stories at the time, she followed him to lunch nearly every day at training camp with her tiny hand tucked inside his.

He also visited her at the Mayo Clinic in 2000 when she was four and was diagnosed with leukemia.

Wanek said she didn’t know Moss would attend until shortly before the ceremony started.

Pelican Rapids has about 2,500 residents and is located 45 miles southeast of Fargo.

Moss last played for the 49ers in 2012.
