Priest points gun at young giants fan - Watch

A witness is disputing an allegation that a Catholic priest pointed a gun at an 8-year-old parishioner.

According to NBC New York, it happened on Sept. 13 before the game between bitter rivals the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. The priest is a Giants fan. The boy likes the Cowboys.

The 54-year-old priest told the young boy that he wanted to see him in one of the rectory rooms before Mass. Once inside, he told the boy to stand against a wall and then pulled out the musket and pointed it at him.

A witness to the encounter contacted the Newark Archdiocese on Sept. 25. They contacted the police. Last Friday, the police interviewed the priest at the rectory and found the musket, gunpowder and ammunition. The priest was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault.

Kevin Carter, who was ordained in 1986 and has worked for various Roman Catholic churches in the Newark Archdiocese, was jailed on $15,000 bail. He was still in jail on Friday night. His current status is unknown. The Archdiocese is not commenting.
