Plane's near-vertical takeoff : Watch Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in aerial acrobatic display

Boeing posted a video in which its pilots push a 787-9 Dreamliner to what appears to be a near-vertical takeoff, delighting airplane enthusiasts and aggravating the anxieties of the air-travel averse.

The extreme technical maneuvers of the Dreamliner in Thai Airline livery was a prelude for the Paris Airshow that will begin on June 15. The test performance was at Washington airport.

The Dash 9 with a 20 feet longer fuselage and 20 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessor 787-8, can carry up to 280 passengers. With a price tag of $250 million, the new version of Dreamliner will begin commercial services in 2018.

Dreamliner 787-9 has a length of 206 feet, a wingspan of 197 feet 4 inches and a height of 55 feet 10 inches. It has a range of 15,394 kilometers and can fly directly from New York to Hong Kong or Mauritius.
