You won’t like Novak when he’s angry

World number one Novak Djokovic has apologised to a ballboy after shouting in his face during the Miami Open final yesterday.

A frustrated Djokovic was in mid-temper tantrum when an unfortunate ball boy just happened to be approaching with a towel. Still shouting, Djokovic angrily grabbed the towel from the startled young man, who quickly got out of the way.

Umpire Damien Dumusois issued a code violation to a still-upset Djokovic after he reached his chair. But instead of becoming even more unraveled, the No. 1 player in the world rallied to dominate Murray in the final set, 6-0.

While thrilled with the victory, Djokovic was quick to address the ball boy situation, issuing a video apology on his Facebook page later in the day.

“I want to reflect on a bad moment that happened today in the finals against Andy,” Djokovic said. “When I lost the second set, I yelled to my box in frustration and I saw the replay. Unfortunately, the ball boy was in the middle of it, and I really, really feel sorry and I regret that he was there. There was absolutely no intention whatsoever to hurt him or scare him in any kind of way, and I sincerely hope that he forgives me.”

Djokovic, whose first child was born in October, added: “As a parent, I do care about children a lot right now. I look at it in a much different way, so I want to apologize to his parents as well for this situation and as a father I wouldn’t wish something like this happens to my son.”
