Nike rewards clubs

FA Charter Standard clubs are once again able to take advantage of the £500,000 giveaway of Nike footballs as they complete their annual health check.

The Charter Standard initiative helps raise the standard of the grassroots game by ensuring that clubs meet and maintain certain standards.

All clubs signed up to the award undergo an annual review to ensure that they adhere the criteria to the criteria laid out by The FA and to identify areas for support of potential development.

This is the second season that Nike are donating the footballs as part of their ongoing commitment to grassroots football alongside their partnership the Football Association as official kit provider to all of England’s men’s and women’s teams.

Over the course of the season more than 36,000 footballs will be distributed to the 7,200 FA Charter Standard clubs as they complete their health checks.

The FA’s Director of National Game and Women’s Football, Kelly Simmons said: “Achieving and maintaining Charter Standard status is a benchmark of quality for FA affiliated clubs.

“By signing up and completing the annual health check they are setting out their stall as a club committed to raising standards within the grassroots game.

“Nike’s generosity in the provision of footballs demonstrates their appreciation of the importance of developing grassroots clubs – and for the clubs themselves, Nike’s contribution is a welcome shot in the arm.”
