Missing Autistic Boy 4 : Officials ask for community's help in searching for missing child

An autistic boy from New York went missing on Christmas Eve while visiting family in South Carolina.

Spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier said Friday the search in Little River was being expanded for Jayden Morrison.

Police, first responders, K9 units, dive teams and others have been searching the area near the North Carolina state line Thursday night and early Friday morning. Volunteers rejoined the effort Friday morning.

Tabatha Morrison of New York said her son does not talk and probably would not respond if his name was called. She said he probably would be unable to find his way home because he is not familiar with his grandmother’s neighborhood.

Horry County police Lt. Raul Denis said the possibility of an abduction has not been ruled out.

Officials urge people to come to the search dressed appropriately for the weather. The search includes entering wooded areas.

Officials are asking people to check places where Jayden could be hiding, such as cars and sheds.

Anyone driving in the area is urged to use caution.

Please call the Horry County Police at 843-248-1520, if you have any information or see Jayden.
