Marshawn Lynch fined $75K after NFC championship game

The NFL fined Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch $75,000 for not talking to the media after the NFC Championship Game, according to reports. But nobody knew about it until seven months later.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio wrote Wednesday that Lynch “finally heard from the NFL about scheduling a hearing regarding a $75,000 fine imposed on him for not talking to the media.” That fine had not been previously disclosed.

Lynch was previously fined $20,000 for grabbing his crotch after a go-ahead touchdown in the Seahawks’ come-from-behind win over the Green Bay Packers.

The 29-year-old running back failed to talk to reporters for much of the last two seasons, which broke league media requirements and culminated in a $100,000 fine from the NFL last season.

Through the end of the 2014 season and during the lead-up to Super Bowl XLIX, Lynch combated the NFL’s policies by making himself available to reporters, but repeating the same phrases over and over again, including, “Yeah,” “I’m thankful,” and “I’m just here so I don’t get fined,” at Super Bowl XLIX Media Day.
