Mark Cuban: DeAndre Jordan Blew Me Off Yesterday - Details

Mark Cuban promises to reveal the details of the DeAndre Jordan free agency debacle in the future.

“There will be a time when I detail everything I know regarding the last 48 hours,” Cuban wrote to fans on Cyber Dust, a text messaging app founded by the billionaire which erases all records of its missives seconds after they are read. “I don’t think the time is right to say anything beyond the facts that he never responded to me at all yesterday. Not once. To this minute I have not heard anything from him since Tuesday night.

“More importantly, I specifically told [Wesley Matthews] that I would not hold him to his commitment if he wanted to go elsewhere. I can’t print his exact response, but suffice to say he is excited to play for our Mavs:) Wes Matthews is exactly the kind of player we want in a Mavs uniform and our fans will love him. He will be in Dallas today so if you see him give him an MFFL welcome.”

Cuban was radio silent Wednesday evening after losing out on the star free agent, who had agreed to play for his team on Friday. After Jordan had agreed to sign with the Mavericks, Cuban had publicly celebrated, telling sports-talk radio station The Ticket that he saw Jordan becoming the cornerstone of the team.

“We see him as Shaq-like but never having been given the opportunity,” Cuban told the radio show. “We told him if he came to the Mavs, he would be a focal point. He would grow into being a franchise player.”

Cuban was subsequently assessed a $25,000 fine from the NBA for publicly commenting on the matter before the league’s free-agent moratorium had ended.

On Thursday, Cuban also addressed a tweet by ESPN’s Chris Broussard via Twitter.

Tweeted Broussard: “CORRECTION: Sources: Cuban beside himself. Driving around downtown HOUSTON begging (thru texts) Jordan’s family 4 address to DeAndre’s home

Responded Cuban: “[email protected]_Broussard that’s is the dumbest … Ive ever heard. If you had any ethics u would msg me and I will give u his address”

Members of the Clippers went to Jordan’s home in Houston on Wednesday to persuade him to back out of his commitment with the Mavericks and return to the Clippers, where he had spent his entire seven-season career. The contingent included Clippers Coach Doc Rivers, team owner Steve Ballmer, Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, J.J. Redick and Paul Pierce. Many of them stayed with him until he could officially sign with the team at 12:01 a.m. ET.

Tweeted Ballmer on Thursday morning: “Great day in many ways #ClipperNationa Appreciate Doc Rivers @JJRedick @CP3 @paulpierce34 @blakegriffin32 and specially @deandrejordan6 !!”
