An 88-year-old Columbia man pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife.
Donald Rowland faces a sentence of 7 years in prison with the possibility of no jail time.
Boone County Judge Kevin Crane is considering a sentence of probation for Rowland while he waits on an advisory report from the Office of Probation and Parole.
Crane plans to announce Rowland’s sentence on April 13.
Prosecutors reduced charges against Rowland last month.
