Lion Killing Dentist's Florida Home Vandalized (Details)

The southwest Florida home of the Minnesota dentist who shot and killed a beloved lion during a big game hunt has been vandalized.

Vandals have sprayed ‘lion killer’ on the garage door of a vacation home belonging to the American dentist who killed a prized lion in Zimbabwe.

Pickled pigs’ feet and animal crackers were also strewn on the driveway of Walter Palmer’s $1.1m home, police in Marco Island, Florida, said.

An investigation into the vandalism has been opened, police Captain David Baer said.

Mr Palmer has been the target of widespread criticism since it emerged he killed the popular big cat known as Cecil the lion.

His Minnesota-based dental practice has been the site of protests, and the White House is reviewing an online petition calling for the American’s extradition to face charges in Zimbabwe.

Mr Palmer, an avid big game hunter, has said he relied on professional guides to ensure his lion hunt was legal.

Local authorities said the men used a dead animal to lure Cecil from a protected area at the Hwange National Park so he could be killed.

The big cat was wounded with a crossbow, tracked for 40 hours and then shot with a rifle.

The 13-year-old lion was then decapitated and skinned.
