Kenny signs Everton deal

England penalty hero Jonjoe Kenny has capped a fine year by putting pen to paper on his first professional contract with Everton.

Kenny, who was part of the Young Lions team that lifted the UEFA European U17 Championship in May, has signed a three-year agreement with the Toffees.

It follows a successful season at club level as he ended his first year as an Everton scholar helping Kevin Sheedy’s U18s team to the Premier Academy League title. He also featured at U21s level for the Blues.

The 17-year-old from Liverpool is one of seven members of that squad who have signed maiden professional contracts at Goodison Park.

Two months ago Kenny was in Malta with John Peacock’s England U17s as they became European Champions.

He netted in the group stage victory over Turkey and it was also his decisive penalty that clinched a 4-1 shootout victory over Holland in the Final after the game finished 1-1.
