Kane signs new Spurs deal

England Under-21s striker Harry Kane has signed a new five year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year-old has committed his future to the White Hart Lane club after ending last season with some impressive performances in the first team.

Kane scored in three successive Premier League matches in April to help Spurs’ chase for Europe and has enjoyed a fruitful pre-season under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The Walthamstow-born starlet was also an important figure in Gareth Southgate’s England squad last term and scored a hat-trick in the victory against San Marino in October.

And speaking about Kane’s prospects for the new campaign, Southgate told TheFA.com: “Harry’s had a good pre-season, and I’m not going to judge people just on that, but it’s very encouraging if players get involved with their first team and have a good spell.

“It’s even more pleasing that he’s back from the injury that he picked up against Wales with us at the end of the season. I’m glad that hasn’t hindered his pre-season, which was important for him.”

Kane has been a regular for the Young Lions over the last few years, picking up caps at U17 and U19 level and he has been joined at the north London club this summer by Under-21s team-mate Eric Dier who signed from Sporting Lisbon earlier this month.
