Josh Hamilton : MLB star files for divorce from wife Katie

Josh Hamilton and his wife, Katie, are in the process of getting a divorce, according to court documents filed in Tarrant County earlier this year.

The divorce petition was filed in February in Tarrant County, where Hamilton played five seasons with the Texas Rangers.

The petition doesn’t detail the couple’s problems, but it cites conflict between them as a reason for the divorce. Hamilton has a long history of substance abuse problems and earlier this year he self-reported a relapse.

Hamilton outlined 34 requests in the petition. Among the requests: prohibiting his wife from using a Maserati and 1972 Chevrolet Blazer in his possession; prohibiting her from “hiding” the children from him; prohibiting her from making disparaging remarks against him or his family.

In March, Katie Hamilton submitted in court a general denial to her husband’s petition.

Hamilton can’t see his children without supervision, according to court records. He is also prohibited from going to the couple’s properties in Westlake; Newport Coast, Calif., and Valley Mills.

The $16.5-million home in Newport Coast went up for sale on Friday.
