Jon Steindorf : Missing State College man found safe, reunited with family

Jon Steindorf, the State College Area High School graduate and former Penn State student who had been missing since Friday, has been found safe, according to State College police.

State College Police Department Lt. Keith Robb said Steindorf was located by police between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. “in the area of the Greentree neighborhood of State College.”

Robb said after police received a call from someone who knew Steindorf from high school and believed to have spotted him, Ferguson Township Police were able to locate Steindorf.

Police found Steindorf to be both physically and mentally healthy, Robb said.
“He was found to be not a threat to himself or others, and he voluntarily agreed to be reunited with his family,” Robb said. “I asked if he wanted a ride to his parents, and he got in the car and our case is closed. This is a happy story.”

Robb said the State College Police Department does not wait a certain amount of time to begin searching for any reported missing persons. He said police act immediately after receiving any reports.
