Johnny Strange: USC Alum Dies In Extreme Sports Accident

Johnny Strange has died in a wingsuiting accident in Switzerland.

A family member and several close sources have allegedly confirmed his death to TMZ, explaining that he was “wingsuiting” in Switzerland when something went wrong during his jump yesterday, Oct. 1.

Wingsuit flying is a sport in which one flies through the air using a wingsuit to add more surface area to one’s body, creating an increase in lift.

Prior to his death, the Malibu native called into California radio station KROQ from Switzerland on Monday and spoke openly about the dangers of his upcoming adventure, saying, “We fly super close to stuff.”

The late daredevil — who, at age 12, conquered Antarctica’s Mt. Vinson Massif — received worldwide notoriety when he became the youngest person to ever climb all seven of the world’s highest peaks. He was 17-years-old at the time.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
