John Oliver NCAA March Madness Rant Explores The Hypocrisy Of Student Athletes On ‘Last Week Tonight’ - Watch

John Oliver set his premium cable warpath on March Madness. Oliver ~destroys~ the NCAA for insisting college players are not employees while the tournament rakes in so much cash.

John Oliver spent 20 minutes of his show “Last Week Tonight” discussing what he sees as various absurdities surrounding March Madness and the NCAA itself.

Oliver discusses how the NCAA takes advantage of the “student-athletes” who play in the NCAA Tournament with its heavy corporate sponsorship.

“The only other people who say ‘they’re not employees’ that much are people who run illegal sweatshops,” Oliver says of NCAA President Mark Emmert.

Oliver also points out how poorly some universities treat some of their athletes and what he sees as the sub-par education that some “student-athletes” receive.

He even invents a new video game “March Sadness” to demonstrate his point.

It’s a nice summary of everything wrong with the NCAA in one 20-minute video.

Enjoy.
