It is a sad time for friends, family, and fans of Joey Feek as she prepares to leave this world after a tough battle with cervical cancer. The husband and wife duo Joey + Rory have captured the love and sympathy of the country music world as they have opened up their life during these extremely tragic times.

Joey Feek, half of the country music duo Joey + Rory, has been asleep for several days and her body is shutting down quickly, according to a blog post Monday from her husband Rory Feek.

“The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days… at the most,” he wrote.

Rory said he went through pictures over the weekend and let them take him back to when they first met. He also came across a song they recorded a few years ago, but never made it onto an album.

The song, titled “In The Time That You Gave Me,” has an even deeper meaning now. Rory took the song and made a slideshow with some of Joey’s photos with it.

“I could barely listen or watch at first. But then, as I listened and watched more… I smiled more and I cried less,” he wrote.

People worldwide have been following the couple’s story and Joey’s battle with cancer since her cervical cancer diagnosis in June 2014.

She stopped treatment in October and was given six to nine months to live. She began hospice care and returned from Tennessee to her childhood home in Indiana.

“And not long after Indy’s birthday my wife decided that ‘enough is enough’. She was ready to stop fighting and she told me so. She said the flowers would soon be blooming back in Tennessee. It’s time to go home,” he wrote.

Rory says that when she passes, Joey will be buried in her family plot behind the farmhouse.

“One of the last things Joey said before she drifted into the deep sleep she’s been in for a few days now is, “I have no regrets… I can honestly say, that I have done everything I wanted to do and lived the life I always wanted to live”.
