JetBlue pilot: Drone spotted near “flight” landing in Florida

JetBlue pilot : Drone spotted near flight landing in Florida

A JetBlue pilot had a close call with a drone Monday morning while getting ready to land at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, a Federal Aviation Administration representative says.

In a statement to the Sun Sentinel , Federal Aviation Administration officials said the pilots didn’t have to take evasive action as they landed Monday morning at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. JetBlue Flight 2007 had departed from Pittsburgh.

The FAA is investigating.

According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the drone was about 1,000 feet above the plane when the incident occurred about 15 miles west of the airport. While the drone wasn’t violating any airspace restrictions, the sheriff’s office notified the FBI.

A sheriff’s helicopter also was dispatched to the area but it couldn’t find the drone.

I don’t believe it for a second. 95 percent of these “close calls” are made up. Drones with gps cannot be flown by airports. They won’t even lift off if your too close. For some reason the media wants to make up stories to scare people. All the peeping tom complaints, which are B.S. as well.
