James Blake: Ex-tennis star to meet with NYC mayor, police commissioner

James Blake, the ex-tennis star who was tackled by a New York City police officer in a case of mistaken identity earlier this month, plans to meet with the mayor and police commissioner Monday.

Mary Jane Orman told The Associated Press on Sunday that Blake will meet with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner William Bratton on Monday.

Surveillance video of Blake’s arrest on Sept. 9 outside a Manhattan hotel shows the officer charge at Blake, grab him by the arm and roughly take him to the ground. The officer has been placed on desk duty.

The mayor and police commissioner have apologized to Blake.

Blake says the officer should lose his job.

Email messages seeking comment from the mayor and the NYPD were not immediately returned.
