Indiana pit bull kills owner: Man Mauled to Death by Pet Dog on Christmas

Police in northwest Indiana are investigating an alleged pit bull attack that killed a 40-year-old man, officials said.

Eddie Cahill was home with his two 8-year-old dogs, Fat Boy and Keylo, while his wife visited family, WGN reported. Cahill’s wife returned home about 5 p.m. to find her husband dead in the living room, covered in dog bites.

Fat Boy was found to have blood in his mouth, she reported.

Animal control officers had to use a taser to get the dog under control, police said. The dog was held overnight for observation, and then euthanized at the family’s request.

The victim’s wife, Bianca Rodriguez, told reporters the dog had never caused trouble in the past. But a police report revealed that she told the first officer on scene that the dog was “violent and unpredictable.”

The family characterized the incident as an accident.

“I don’t want people to think bad of pit bulls,” Rodriguez said. “It was a freak accident. He loved those dogs.”

I’m not sure how this could have been a “Freak” accident. I’m not against Pit Bulls. My friends have Pits, and they are so lovable. But this story does make me pause.
I’m curious as to why the other Pit (Keylo) didn’t come to the owners rescue.
So awful. My sympathies to the family..

http://www.voicesofthevictims.org Most pitbull attacks happen when people are visiting friends with pits that go nuts. FYI many owners have been killed by pitbulls this year..2014 is the record year for deaths of humans from dogs and the media is quiet on this. Most pitbull fatalities go unreported nationally as its is treated as the new normal even when it is exceeding abnormal to accept this in dogs.
