Harden should’ve been called for foul on game-winner NBA says – Details
- Updated: April 25, 2016
The NBA says referees should have called a foul on James Harden before his game-winning shot.
Though Andre Iguodala registered no complaints after he was victimized on what ended up being the game-winning shot with 2.7 seconds left in Game 3 of the Warriors-Rockets playoff series, the NBA felt differently.
The league noted in its Last Two Minutes report Friday morning, roughly 12 hours after James Harden drained a 10-foot step-back jumper, that the Rockets star committed an offensive foul when he pushed off on Iguodala.
“Harden initiates the contact with Iguodala to create space and dislodges him from his legal guarding position,” the report states.
The conclusion upon video review was that the officiating crew — Scott Foster, Mark Ayotte and Tom Washington — made an “Incorrect Non-Call.”
Because Harden’s push-off was so blatant — though that call rarely is made — Iguodala was asked about it after the game, a 97-96 Warriors loss. The veteran took the high road.
“I think my brother made a nice play and made a good shot,” Iguodala said.
