Georgia Couple Missing after posting Craigslist ad

Georgia couple missing after responding to a Craigslist ad, Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said the Georgia State Patrol’s aviation unit has joined local officials searching Telfair and Wheeler counties for Bud and June Runion.

Steverson says there are two active warrants out for Ronnie “Jay” Adrian Towns, 28. One warrant is for making false statements to investigators and the other for criminal attempt to commit theft by deception, Steverson said.

Elrey “Bud” Runion, 69, and June Runion were last seen Thursday afternoon.

The couple was headed to South Georgia to buy a car, and have not been seen since.

Sheriff’s officials say they interviewed Towns in regard to the case. Warrants for his arrest were issued Sunday.

According to Steverson, he was the last person to talk to the couple on the phone. He would not say whether it was an incoming or outgoing call.

Steverson said it was determined he had not told the truth.

There are currently about 50 volunteers on the ground, along with first responders, dogs, and helicopters in the air.

Steverson said the search will continue into the night.

The couple’s daughters say they first became concerned when the couple did not show up to babysit their grandchildren Friday.
