Frank Alexander has been suspended for one year for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the team said Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
Frank Alexander is on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles tendon in August. He also missed 14 games last season due to two separate substance abuse violations.
Alexander is the third Panthers player suspended this week. On Monday, defensive end Wes Horton was suspended four games for violating the performance-enhancing drug policy, and receiver Stephen Hill received a one-game suspension for a substance abuse violation.
Alexander, who turns 26 next month, will be a free agent after the season. During training camp, head coach Ron Rivera said this season would be “make or break” for Alexander.
