Francis Owusu made what may be the catch of the year against UCLA on Thursday night, pulling off a seemingly impossible play.
As the Associated Press noted, Stanford defeated UCLA 56-35 and Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey had a record-setting performance, but the story everyone couldn’t stop talking about was Owusu’s insane grab.
”That’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen,” McCaffrey said after the game.
Watching the play live it was tough to see the ball as Owusu actually caught it against defender Jaleel Wadood’s back and hung on for the touchdown.
The play happened in the third quarter when McCaffrey took the snap in the wildcat then handed it off to fellow back Bryce Love. He flipped it to quarterback Kevin Hogan who then threw the pass to Owusu.
”I saw it for a little bit and then from there I felt the ball after that,” Owusu said. ”I didn’t really see it and squeezed as hard as I could when I felt it.”
And looking at the replay it definitely wows every time.
