'Floating city' in China is simply an optical illusion say researchers - Watch

Above China, a “floating city” has been spotted in the skies, which has spawned a lot of theories around the footage. A number of parallel universes have opened up, after many residents spotted the mysterious, floating city above Foshan, Guangdong province.

Video footage captured in Foshan in the Guangdong province of China showed buildings apparently hiding among the clouds. The phenomenon became a hot topic after the video was posted on social media and was broadcast on local TV stations.

Footage prompted conspiracy theorists to suggest it was proof of Project Blue Beam technology, a theory that purports Nasa to be planning to simulate the second coming of Christ or an alien invasion.

However, weather experts offered a saner explanation that the ‘city’ was created due to a common optical illusion called Fata Morgana, a type of mirage that distorts objects in the distance and is caused when warm and cold weather bends light at a different angle.

But many people say the whole thing is a hoax – no eye witnesses or other pictures of the phenomenon were found to exist, leaving a lot of doubt about the veracity of the footage.
