Fan Greg Murrey dies after fall from upper deck at Turner Field

Atlanta Fan Falls to Death at Atlanta Braves Game.

Espn is reporting Gregory Murrey, 60, was a season ticket holder and huge Braves fan.

Fans told Channel 2 Action News it was a good 40 to 50 drop from the railing of the upper deck where Murrey fell onto a concrete walkway down below Saturday.

The area was blocked off by police and crime scene tape for the rest of the game.

The man landed on the terrace level right behind home plate.

He did not fall on top of any other fans or seats injuring anyone else.

It was the top of the seventh inning just as Alex Rodriguez was introduced to bat for the Yankees.

Stadium security and paramedics rushed in, where Murrey was taken to the hospital, but didn’t make it.

One fan about 10 rows away saw the fall and told Channel 2 Action News over the phone he didn’t think the man would survive.

“They were doing CPR from the moment they got to him and they were still doing it on him when they left,” Adam Staudacher said. “The people that were obviously his family, with him were screaming. They were not okay. It did not look good.”

Atlanta police homicide detectives are investigating, but they say it does not appear there was any type of foul play.

The Atlanta Braves released the following statement:

“The Atlanta Braves are deeply saddened by the loss of Greg Murrey at last night’s game. Greg was a valued and longtime season ticket holder and an incredibly passionate Braves fan. This tragic loss is felt throughout Braves Country, and the thoughts and prayers of the entire Braves organization continue to go out to his family and friends. ”
