Emile Hirsch : Actor charged with assault on Paramount executive

Emile Hirsch has entered rehab, following assault charges filed against him for a January incident at the Sundance Film Festival.

Prosecutors say Hirsch, 29, was drunk when he got into an argument with the victim at a nightclub in Park City, Utah on Jan. 25. During the altercation, Hirsch is said to have put the woman in a chokehold as well as dragged her across a table. The woman may have briefly passed out before two people were able to separate Hirsch and the victim.

If found guilty, Hirsch, who was at Sundance for the premiere of Ten Thousand Saints, could be punished with up to five years in prison and a fine of $5,000. He’s also facing a misdemeanor intoxication charge.
