Eddie Murphy Returns To SNL Reunion after a 30 year absence, Refuses To Play Bill Cosby In Sketch

The SNL 40th anniversary reunion brought back Eddie Murphy to the stage after a 30 year absence, but his short appearance didn’t go quite as planned.

Murphy refused to perform a sketch which lampooned Bill Cosby who currently stands accused of sexual assault by several women.

Former SNL star Norm Macdonald, who helped to coordinate the anniversary show, revealed the nature of Murphy’s refusal in a series of tweets.

He revealed that the sketch would have seen Murphy, dressed in a multicoloured jumper – a signature look of Cosby’s, mixing a drink.

However, given actor and comedian Cosby is currently accused of sexual assault by several women who claim he drugged them via their drinks, Murphy opted not to “kick a man when he’s down”.

Murphy has impersonated Cosby throughout his career but this particular sketch was ultimately performed on the show by current SNL star Kenan Thompson.

Kudos to Eddie Murphy! I have a great deal of respect for a man who refuses to join in this farce!
