Dustin Diamond has reportedly been released from prison a month earlier than expected.
Dustin Diamond, the actor who played Screech on 1990s TV’s “Saved by the Bell,” was released Monday afternoon after participating in what the Ozaukee County sheriff’s office called its Jail Porter Program, which provides general custodial maintenance.
He served was sentenced last year to four months in jail and 15 months’ probation for the stabbing at a Port Washington, Wis., bar.
Dustin Diamond earned 30 days of “good time,” or one day for every 24 hours worked, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
The celebrity gossip site TMZ, which has followed this saga at every step of the way, blared in its headline that Diamond had “Scrubbed Way to Freedom.”
Dustin Diamond was found guilty of two misdemeanors: carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct with a concealed weapon. He and his fiancee, also convicted of disorderly conduct, were ordered to pay about $1,500 in restitution to the man stabbed at the Grand Ave. Saloon.
Dustin Diamond began serving his jail sentence in January.
