Drunk driver plows into four people at Daytona National Speedway. Police say a Cocoa Beach woman was drunk when she plowed her pickup into four people and five campers inside the Daytona International Speedway infield early Saturday morning.
Drunk driver Abbie Kinney, 43, told an officer on the scene she “shouldn’t have been driving” because she drank three beers prior to getting behind the wheel of her black Toyota pickup truck around 2 a.m., according to an arrest report.
One of the people injured in the crash broke his leg, another had a bandaged hand and a third reported back pain, according to FOX 35. The condition of the fourth person is unknown.
Drunk driver Kinney, a Cocoa Beach resident, blew a .179 on a Breathalyzer test then a .170 on a second test, police said. The legal limit in Florida is .08. Her eyes were reportedly bloodshot, her breath smelled of alcohol and she had trouble maintaining balance during a field sobriety test.
Records show Drunk driver Kinney is facing several DUI-related charges.
Thousands of bikers are currently gathered in Daytona Beach for the 75th annual Bike Week. Daytona International Speedway is hosting races, vendors and other motorcycle events through the celebration.
