Down Syndrome Toddler Target - Watch: Stillwater girl featured in Target ad goes viral

Toddler With Down Syndrome Star of New Target Ad, an adorable 2-year-old playing with an activity cube and sporting a pink ruffled dress and leopard-print tights is the star of a Target ad that made a splash last week.

The cute two-year-old hails from Stillwater, Minnesota and she can really rock an animal print tight.

She also has Down’s syndrome.

Her mum Heather, who works with the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network was approached by the retail chain directly as they actively sought models with the condition to star in their campaign.

The company prides itself on its inclusive campaigns which aim to represent all children, including those with disabilities.

And it’s not the first time they have used models with Down’s syndrome – they did it in 2012 and 2013 too.

Target has been particularly praised for its complete lack of fanfare. Journalist and mum-of-two Janice D’Arcy commented for the Washington Post: ‘That’s why Target is receiving praise, for not not making an issue of featuring Ryan. No press releases, media blitz or other to-do.’

Izzy’s mum told CBS News: ‘I really appreciate Target’s policy of including [children with disabilities] in their ads. I think it really normalizes Down syndrome and helps people to see we’re really just like any other family.’
