Delvin Choice arrested on DUI charge

One of the breakout star’s of NBC’s The Voice. Delvin Choice was arrested in South Carolina on November 9 on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper pulled over Choice, who is from Greenville, on Highway 76 in Oconee County just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Oconee County Detention Center confirmed that Choice, who is 24, was booked on a driving under the influence charge, first offense.

Choice’s father, Willie Choice, is pastor at the Campfield Baptist Church in Abbeville. Monday, he spoke to WYFF News 4’s Michael Cogdill and said, “We all make mistakes in life. We learn from our mistakes. Delvin’s mission is still the same.”

Delvin has huge following in Upstate

Choice has a huge fan base in the Upstate that grew rapidly after he didn’t get any judges’ votes on season five of “The Voice,” and then had all four of them turn around to try to get him on their teams in season six.Delvin Choice

Choice made it to a field of eight finalists on “The Voice” before he was eliminated. He has continued to make local appearances, including several charity events.

Before his music career began to take off, Choice worked at Starbucks in Anderson and went to church at Newspring.

Last summer, Choice announced that he has plans to move to Los Angeles to pursue opportunities there.
